Best suited for full-sun native meadow plantings. Flowers less showy than the related milkweeds, but it has attractive foliage and frequently red stems. Grows to about 3' tall.

One of the most beautiful native grasses of North Carolina; more compact than some of the other bluestems - grows to about 3' tall and produces showy, silky seed fluff in the fall.
